Jake, a former World Cup, Olympic and professional skier and attorney developed Outdoor Sports Insurance in 1988. He is one of three owners at Horizon Agency, Inc. Jake is an insurance professional who recognized the need for uniformity and special ski shop insurance coverages while working for Steamboat and Winter Park Ski Resorts as Director of Skiing and Special Events. He truly understands the ski and sports industry and your unique insurance needs.  

Rob Martin, Managing Director

Rob is the managing director of the program and has been with Horizon Agency since 1997. Previously, he managed retail ski and outdoor shops in Vail, CO while skiing the slopes as much as possible. He understands every aspect of the program as well as the sports our clients are involved in. With a strong background in risk management and retail business management, Rob runs the daily operations of the program and actively develops new client relationships and is a licensed insurance agent. He is an avid Telemark skier and fly fisherman but spends most of his time away from the office chasing his two young sons with his wife.

Ron Strychar, Marketing & Sales Manager

Ron joined the Outdoor Sports Insurance team in early 2007 and is a licensed insurance agent. He brought with him a broad and extensive marketing background totaling over twelve years within the hospitality and real estate industries. Ron is often the first point of contact for all new clients to the program and you will find him at industry trade shows throughout the year. His chief responsibilities include new business development, program marketing and software management. Interests include biking, fitness, friends and travel when not in the office.

Tim Scatarella, Vice-President

Tim has been with Horizon Agency since 1993 and has been one of the top producers since. Prior experience includes five years of underwriting for an A+ rated insurance carriers. Tim possesses a wealth of experience in all aspects of commercial insurance and holds the C.P.C.U. designation.

Linda Bregel, Account Manager

Linda has been in the insurance industry for over 23 years and came to Horizon Agency in 1994. She is a licensed insurance agent and holds the C.I.S.R. designation. Her daily responsibilities include managing the insurance needs of our clients. Her talent, skills and extensive experience provides a high level of comfort for clients.

Ben has over nine years of experience in the insurance industry and joined the Outdoor Sports Insurance team in 2006 as an account manager. Prior experience includes years with a national insurance broker as well as time at a national carrier. Ben is a licensed insurance agent and continually attends courses and seminars to keep abreast of changes in the insurance industry.

Cheryl Alms, Customer Service Representative

Cheryl has been with Horizon Agency since 2006 and is a licensed insurance agent. She helps to provide clients with a working knowledge and understanding of insurance and demonstrates exceptional service and communication skills. Prior experience includes twelve years as an Assistant Underwriter and holds a B.S. degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Elaine has been at Horizon Agency since 1986. Prior experience includes working with an independent adjuster as well as an office administrator for a large national insurance company. Her vast experience, knowledge and expertise totals over 31 years in the insurance industry. Elaine effectively handles all claims including coverage review and liability analysis.
